Absences and Illnesses

At Emerson

• If your child is sick, please keep them home and notify Ms. Michele, our Attendance Clerk, at leahlopez@berkeley.net.

• Emerson encourages families to commit to attending school and missing school only for excused absences. The California Education Code 48205 lists bases for excused absences.

• Covid

  • Covid cases that were possibly infectious (had symptoms) while at BUSD should be reported to Leahlopez@berkeley.net and reported to BUSD

  • Families can report student COVID cases using this form in either English or in Spanish.

  • We will encourage frequent hand washing and sanitizing to prevent the spread of illness.
