BusES

BUSD Transportation provides bus transport services within the attendance zone to children living beyond the 1.5-mile walking distance. It is also provided to certain special eduction students. BUSD Transportation requests can be made to transportationdept@berkeley.net or 510-644-6182.

DROP-OFF

Emerson participates in Safe Routes to Schools and Walk-and-Bike-to-School events. We encourage all families to consider walking, biking, and scooting to school.

If you drive to school, you may wait in line and drop your child safely off at the curb along Piedmont Ave, on the west side of Emerson.

ARRIVAL

Plan for your child to arrive at school no later than 8:10 am. You will need to line up outside of the gate and then say goodbye to your child once you meet the gate. Due to continuing health restrictions and guidelines for School Reopening, parents/non-staff adults have limited/restricted access to campus. Parents are not allowed to enter the school building to walk students to class. If you need to come into the building please call the office ahead at (510) 644-6890 to make arrangements.

Afternoon Pick-up

Children not in Kids' World and not on the bus are released to a parent/guardian at designated locations when the bell rings.

If your child is in Kids' World, parent/guardians can retrieve students after 4:30 pm at the front doors of the school on Forest Avenue.

No double-parking, blocking driveways, or parking in firelanes
Do not let your child out of the car in the middle of the street. Pull to the curb and have them exit the car next to the curb.
No riding bikes or scooters on the yard.
Work kindly with our volunteer crossing guard (intersection of Piedmont Ave and Forest Ave) and our volunteer who helps kids dropped off by car!
