In 2021, our district made a commitment via our Resolution Denouncing Hate Crimes and Bigotry Targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, to actively counter racist and harmful ideology against the AAPI community with our greatest tool: education.

In October, we honor the over four hundred years of history of Filipino/x American in this country. Since 2009, U.S. Congress has recognized October as Filipino American History Month and our district joins the many communities and organizations that are celebrating the fact that Filipino/x American history is American history.

PTA FUNDRAISING

HEART OF EMERSON

The annual Heart of Emerson campaign is underway and this is your chance to show your support! So far, we’ve raised $30,579 towards our $175,000 total goal for this year. Let’s keep the momentum going to ensure we can continue offering PE class for every grade, putting on school-wide events, sending students on educational field trips, providing support and supplies for teachers and staff, and so much more. Every dollar matters!

Your donation of $625 would match the funds allocated for a single student. Please give, knowing that some cannot, and give early so we can plan for the rest of the year. Donate today and watch our progress thermometer climb! https://emersonelementary.org/heart-of-emerson

Donations are fully tax-deductible and eligible for employer matching gifts. Contact fundraising@emersonelementary.org with any questions. Thank you so much for your support of our community. Go, Emerson Bear Cubs!

ART CORNER

Second Grade Artists know how to mix colors.

How many new colors can you make by mixing just 2 primary colors? Second grade students started by taping off sections of their papers with washi tape. Next they chose 2 primary colors of paint for this project. They were asked to make as many new colors from the two primaries as possible and paint them in the shapes that were created by the washi tape lines.
