PTA TREASURER’S NOTE

At our August 28th PTA Association Meeting, we’ll be reviewing and approving the budget for the 2025–2026 school year, along with the 2024–2025 financial report and review.

We’re also looking for extra hands to support the treasurer role—whether that’s helping reimburse the teachers, reviewing budgets, or just learning the ropes. If you’re interested in pitching in, even a little, we’d love to hear from you! Please reach out at treasurer@emersonelementary.org.

Equity Shelf: Parent Book Club
Join us for the launch of our PTA-sponsored book club, Equity Shelf on 9/24 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm! We’ll read and discuss books that spark conversation about equity and community.

Our first read is Be a Revolution by Ijeoma Oluo, a powerful and practical guide to building change in our daily lives, our communities, and beyond. Whether you’re new to these conversations or have been on this journey for a while, this is a space to learn, share, and connect with other parents.

FOOTBALL PARKING FUNDRAISER - Volunteer Sign Up!

Our annual football parking fundraiser is expected to earn ~$15,000 for the PTA over the course of this season. We charge for cars to park on the blacktop during Cal games. But we need parents to make it happen! This fundraiser is a *great* deal. Each hour you volunteer translates into a roughly $150 donation for the PTA to fund school supplies, field trips, etc.

ART CORNER WITH MS. AMES

Emerson 1st through 5th grade artists fill Emerson's walls with beautiful dots.

For our first class back this year in 1st through 5th grade, we read Peter Reynolds' fabulous book called The Dot. Or young artists designed their dots using crayons and paint markers. By using a limited color scheme, each grade level was able to contribute to a rainbow of dots. Come check it out by the library when you are here for Back to School Night.

I would still love to have volunteers in the art room, so please consider sending me an email to let me know of your interest.
