WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

Dear Emerson Caregivers,

Welcome to the 2026 - 2027 School Year! We are off to a strong start, and I want to thank everyone for pulling together for our community during the first three days of school! Retired Principal Susan Hodge was my substitute as I took my son to his dorm move-in and New Student Orientation at Morehouse College in Atlanta. This experience reminded me of how quickly a child's life progresses and how grateful I am to be part of your students' formative years. As everyone says, it goes by fast! Let's make the most of it as a kind, caring community that supports our precious youth. I look forward to updating you and introducing you to the new and returning Emerson staff on Back to School Night, which is Thursday, August 27 at 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Please join us for the PTA Association Meeting, immediately following in the Library from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Back to School Night is an adults-only event, and we do not have childcare. In preparation, we ask that you begin to make your childcare arrangements now.

PTA Announcements

The Emerson PTA is off to a strong start! The board met for a new school retreat on Saturday, August 8th. We approved our budget, participated in an Equity workshop, and shared and created plans for the school community for the coming school year. We welcome you to join us for our next meeting, right after Back to School Night, on Thursday, August 27 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. We hope to see you there!

You can access the new ONLINE Family Directory at: https://emersonelementary.org/directory

Anyone who is in the directory can log in via Google or Yahoo to access. Note that anyone, not just Gmail users, can create a Google account with their existing email address to access.

Families can submit their information or updates via the "Update Your Information" link. Responses are manually reviewed by our webmaster before access is provided.

This is a new platform and a work in progress. Please email us with any questions or concerns at communications@emersonelementary.org

The Family Directory is organized by the Emerson Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The Emerson Elementary Family Directory is a tool for families to coordinate and communicate. For example, families have used the Family Directory to coordinate carpools and playdates outside of school hours.

The Family Directory is not used by Emerson Elementary School administration to contact families; School Administration communications are sent using the Remind Application
