EMERSON EARTH DAY
March student shout outs
ART CORNER
Get ready to GLOW at Family Art Night this Friday!
This year for Family Art Night all of the art making stations will be in the cafeteria…. And they will all be done with fluorescent art supplies. After you (and/or your kids) have completed a couple of projects take them into the library where we will have black lights on so that your art projects will glow!
You can go back and forth between creating in the cafeteria and enjoying the fluorescent glow in the library.
And be sure to wear your newest Emerson t-shirt for the glow factor there, too!
It’s going to be a lot of fun—— hope to see you there!
We could still use some volunteers at the stations. Our projects are quite self-directed this year, so you can have fun creating your own projects while you help kids with theirs.

READ-A-THON
The Emerson Read-A-Thon Begins Wednesday, March 12th!
We encourage all students to read as much as they can, while raising money for Emerson. We’re striving for full participation - meaning we hope every student will find some time to read at home!
If you haven’t already, please visit https://app.99pledges.com/fund/emersonele2025 to find your student’s page. You can forward the link to your student’s page to friends and family far and wide!
Here are forms you may need:

Spanish Guide - https://tinyurl.com/2025-R-A-T-Spanish-Guide
Reading Log - https://tinyurl.com/2025-At-Home-Log
Our 2025 schoolwide goal is to read a combined total of 300,000 minutes and raise $35,000.
It’s a stretch goal, but Emerson students can achieve great things together!
● The top three students in each grade who read the most minutes will receive a prize.
● The classroom in each grade that reads the most minutes will receive a class prize.
● If we reach our schoolwide goal of reading a total of 300,000 minutes, there will be a special
schoolwide prize for everyone to enjoy.

Did you know up to 1 in 5 people have symptoms of dyslexia?
The IDA writes:"As many as 15–20% of the population as a whole—have some of the symptoms of dyslexia, including slow or inaccurate reading, poor spelling, poor writing, or mixing up similar words. Not all of these will qualify for special education, but they are likely to struggle with many aspects of academic learning and are likely to benefit from systematic, explicit, instruction in reading, writing, and language."
