SCHOOL VISITATION POLICY

Emerson Elementary School is a secure campus.

All visitors must gain entrance to the school by using the intercom system at the front door. Visitors must check in at the main office, sign in, and obtain a visitor badge.  Caregivers who wish to visit their student's classroom must coordinate with their child's teacher at least 24 hours in advance.

This policy is created to ensure school site safety.

In addition, the School Administration is not authorized to allow Immigration Officers access to the school or students. All Immigration Officer requests are referred to the BUSD Superintendent.

Only the BUSD Superintendent can grant access to student documents.

Helping Undocumented Students and Families in BUSD

Superintendent Ford-Morthel spoke at the Berkeley PTA meeting on 10/27 about protecting undocumented students and families in BUSD. She covered the school's legal obligation to protect students, steps BUSD is doing to prepare, and how you can help.

ART CORNER

Kindergartners love to paint!

Our young artists started with drawing lines and shapes with crayon and then painted over the crayon with watercolor. What a delight to see the waxy crayon lines resist the watery paint.
